MCC Mavericks

and The Multiverse of Masterful Coaching

MCC Mavericks is a focused, no-fluff experience—designed for coach practitioners awho are interested in exploring what it really means to coach at the Master Certified Coach (MCC) level. This is where nuance meets know-how, with just the right mix of spontaneity, practicality, and humor.

Explore the Multiverse as a Maverick

Learning to coach at the MCC level needs to be breathable, honest, and fun. With the Mavericks, I focus on simplicity, ease, reality, and wonder—not buzzwords, complexity, or jargon. We are moving past the annoying MCC mantras on LinkedIn that it is all presence and who you are being. Presence matters, of course, but if that were all MCC coaches needed, MCC coaching would be the same as having a deep conversation with a tree.

Instead, you will get real, experiential learning—both tactical and off-the-cuff—along with ample space and encouragement to make many mistakes, permission to laugh, and practical recipes you can actually use. Every session gives you something concrete to use, not just theory floating somewhere in the clouds.

What happens in each session?

Each two-hour session starts with an interactive activity that digs into a particular nuance of MCC-level coaching. All activities are informed by the MCC Minimum Skills Requirements and ICF Core Competencies of today, not from 200 years ago. In the second hour, we review coaching demonstrations (live or recorded) from an MCC lens. You will also meet guest MCC coaches and ICF assessors who bring relevant expertise in unique areas that enhance MCC-level coaching. Thus far, expertise has included using self as instrument, coaching with all the senses, masterful partnering, the science of metaphors, and much more—plus, just when you think you know what’s coming, Matthew throws in a surprise.

Some of the most important lessons include:

  • Matthew’s FROSEN and PRASMA Frameworks: Building a session agreement without turning it into a hostage negotiation; closing a coaching session without being parental.
  • The Dictionary of Competency #3: What actually counts as a topic, outcome, measure of success, etc. and how you know the coach did not (accidentally) choose them.
  • Partnership Rehab: Breaking the habit of secretly steering the session while pretending you are not.
  • Multiple Intelligences: Trusting insights that do not arrive with footnotes and citations.
  • Law & Order: Special Language Unit: Dissecting the client’s words like a detective instead of masterful interpreting.
  • Coaching the Vibe: When the words say: “I am fine,” and everything else screams: “No, you are absolutely not.”
  • BEING vs. DOING: The debate nobody asked for but everyone loves to fight about.
  • Data that Matters: Translating your Energy Leadership™ and CliftonStrengths™ results into real coaching upgrades, not just pretty graphs.

Already working toward your MCC?

We honor previous training hours that you have completed (after earning your PCC) in programs led by MCC coaches, including MCC-level mentor coaching, supervision, etc. That means you do not need to complete all 75 hours of Level 3 training with Cintron Coaching to earn a Level 3 certificate.

Thanks to our ICF-approved transfer credit policy, you can bypass the MCC Portfolio application process and get credit for the work you have done for the cost of one mentor coaching session, saving you hours of paperwork by going through the MCC Level 3 pathway.

For example, we accept completed hours from any of the following programs:
